Alison Fiore – artist of the month for September.

Art has always been my passion! After graduating from my Fashion & Surface pattern HND, I worked as a womenswear designer in the Fashion Industry for almost 20 years. I then took a career break to look after my young family; my eldest child being diagnosed with cerebral palsy raised new challenges that required many hospital visits. As working abroad on research trips became an impossibility, I chose to focus on my family for a while until things got easier.

Spending many years working part-time I enjoyed a variety of different creative roles. I then returned to full time work in 2014 as a Fashion Dept. manager, which unfortunately ended in Dec.’15 when I resigned due to ill health. With many months of surgery and treatment, I knew I needed to work from home in a calm and flexible environment. Past experience inspired me to use my creative skills and concentrate on doing something I really enjoyed. Picking up a paintbrush after many years was a bit daunting but very therapeutic!

I spent the majority of 2017 experimenting with various mediums to see what I enjoyed the most. Using acrylics was new to me and before I knew it I was hooked! Looking at nature and seeing the beauty of God’s creation around me, has always been a source of endless inspiration. My latest work focuses on stunning wild flowers in their natural surroundings.
